Compressing JPEG images for web

We advise that you crop and resize your images before compressing them for best results.

Guides on how to resize images are on the ‘Preparing images for web‘ page.

Compressing your JPEG photos through JPEG Mini

The first step is to go to www.jpegmini.com

You should land on a page that looks like this: (click on these images to enlarge them)

JPEG Mini Homepage

Select the ‘Try it now’ button to be taken to the next step.

On this page you get the options to either, ‘Upload your image’ via the button, or drag and drop your file from the windows explorer (or the mac equivalent explorer if you own a mac)

Once you’ve uploaded your image, it will move onto the next step where you will be allowed to download your compressed, web ready image.

You should see something like this:

JPEG mini - Process your photo download

Press the download button and then find the image in your downloads folder.

Simply copy and past your compresses, web ready image to where you want to store it.

That’s it!

Note: When you do download the image it puts ‘_mini’ on the end of the image name – we usually get rid of that bit, but it’s up to you.
