Domain names

Sometimes we need help from you to move your domain name under our control and allow us to build your website for you.

If we register a domain on your behalf

We register domain names in your name. When we have registered the domain name you will receive an email from the registration authority (Nominet for .uk domain names, ICANN for international domains).

This contains instructions for verifying your domain name and you need to follow them. More about domain name verification.

If you receive an email about your domain name

You should only receive emails about your domain name from us or from the registration authority.

Unfortunately some scam artists have also taken to sending domain owners emails claiming they have to pay for some service or other. If you receive an email about your domain name and you are unsure about whether it is genuine or not, then please contact us.

What happens to existing email if your move your domain name to us

This guide covers most, if not all cases

Moving domain names into our hosting

In many cases we can do this without help from you, but sometimes we need your co-operation. These pages provide instructions for moving domain names.

Moving a .uk domain name to us

Follow these instructions if moving a domain name that ends in .uk to us

Moving an international domain (.com, .org, .net etc) to us

Follow these instructions if moving a domain name that ends in .com, .org or .net or any other international extension.

Changing domain name details such as ownership for a .uk domain name

Follow these instructions if you wish to change the ownership and contact details attached to your domain name.

The alternative – pointing your domain name rather than moving it

This option is open to you if you are planning on having a website only with us – and run your email elsewhere.
