Hudson LM Accountant

The Project

Hudson LM AccountantWe were approached to build a website for a new accountancy practice set up by Louise Hudson back in 2012, and have continued the relationship ever since.

Louise originally wanted a website that was simple and uncluttered as well as modern, and we suggested that she adopt the up and coming mobile responsive design that would allow her site to be viewed as easily on a desktop computer as it can be on a mobile phone or iPad.

What Moghill did

We took the time to understand Louise and her business aims so that we could produce a website that got the basics across without being stuffy in the way some accountancy websites can be.

The website has also help win her business from major clients looking for specialist work.

Makeover in 2017

By 2017, not only had the original site started looking a little old, but Louise’s business had grown into a thriving practice with a full team, so we were called in again to revamp the website.

We worked the existing site into a new, modern design, with updated content, professional photography, a blog, and an email newsletter.

The pictures on this page show the original site, but if you follow the link below, you can see how it looks today.

Jo Bregazzi

Jo Bregazzi Cosmetic and Medical Permanent Makeup

Jo Bregazzi

The client

Jo Bregazzi is a cosmetic and medical permanent makeup specialist based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

As a former nurse and artist, she has a national reputation for her excellent work and receives GP referrals from all over the UK, particularly for scar coverage after surgery or accidents as well as after breast cancer treatment. She also carries out cosmetic tattooing on eyebrows, eyeliner and lips.

The problem

Jo had had a website built for her several years ago in a proprietary content management system developed by the company who built it, but she had never been truly happy with the way it looked or performed.

Being several years old, the website was looking dated, wasn’t mobile responsive and was cluttered with no clear focus on where to go for the information you wanted. It wasn’t great either at displaying photo galleries of her work, and the blogging function was lacking.

It was also difficult for Jo to update and difficult for site visitors to use and the system itself was no longer supported by the company who built it so she had no support in getting around any difficulties she had. She needed something much easier for her to update and the current system was constrained in what she could change.

The site simply wasn’t reflecting the quality of her work.

She was also looking to rebrand the business to bring her image up to date and have a recognisable logo and style with which to build her brand.

And finally, she needed it to integrate with her online booking system, Timely, which she used to organise appointments.

How we helped

We consulted with Jo to define what she wanted from her website, which was something clean and fresh, mobile-friendly and modern that integrated with Timely.

We brought in our graphic design and branding partner, Gina at Red Stone Studio and together concluded that, as she had a good name in the industry, she would rebrand from trading as Creative Enhancement, as she had previously, to using her own name.

Previously trading as Creative Enhancement, we suggested that she might like to use her reputation to her advantage and trade under her own name.

Gina created Jo a brand that is modern and fresh, creating variations on her logo and other graphics for social media and printed stationery, such as letterhead and business cards.

We took the brand to create a modern, mobile friendly website. We then used content from her old website to build the site structure and create some starter blog posts for her to build upon.

Easy to update

We repurposed the content to focus on what her clients and site visitors would want to do, making it easy to find the online bookings features and creating image galleries to display examples of her work.

As her clinic is home-based, it was important for clients to be able to easily find her, so we embedded an interactive Google map into her contact page.

As the site is built in WordPress (as is everything we do), we simplified the admin panel she accessed to make available only those features she needs access to and trained her in how to use the system.

And we integrated her booking system into the website so that clients can book a consultation in just a few clicks and without leaving the site.

What happened next

Jo is much happier with both how the website looks and performs on tablets and phones and how much easier the site is to manage. As well as having a fresh new look, it’s much easier to get around.

She is taking bookings through the site and so now her website has become a valuable asset to her business that will continue to grow as her business does.

After just one week of going live, it was showing on page 1 in county-wide Google search results and her Google map pin was top of the list.

Paul Wiseman Investigations

Paul Wiseman Investigations

Paul Wiseman Investigations

The project

Paul Wiseman Investigations specialises in helping businesses across the UK, the US and Europe fight fraud.

Owner Paul Wiseman approached us because he was not happy with his site from a national provider (OK then – Yell/Hibu).

We worked with him to create new content that clearly explained his services, while adding a blog to allow him to discuss cases in depth.

As standard, the website we created for Paul was built in WordPress and used responsive design for ease of use on mobile devices.

Working with his original logo and supplied photos, we created a professional-looking, clean website that helped bring in new business within days of launch.

After 18 months in our care, Paul decided to move the site to his IT provider, who was able to quickly set up the site on new hosting, where it continues today.

While we don’t like to see any client leave, it’s reassuring to know that the websites we build can be moved to a new hosting provider if required.

Hannah Fraser

H Fraser Consulting

Hannah Fraser

The project

H Fraser Consulting is led by Hannah Fraser, a Consultant Hydrogeologist. She came to us after a recommendation from one of our other clients.

She had built a website herself but felt she needed something that would present her business in a more professional light, as well as showcase her skills and expertise and generate new enquiries.

Hannah’s work in a complex and specialist field presented a challenge in producing the content. We created a simple but effective WordPress website, mobile responsive and targeted to her market.

The first version of the website launched late in 2014, and since then it’s undergone a few changes. We added new pages to promote Basement Impact Assessments, integrating a new logo and colours, and creating a blog, allowing Hannah to edit content herself.

The flexibility of WordPress has allowed the site to adapt to changes quickly and easily.

Sorrells Solicitors

Sorrells Solicitors

Sorrells Solicitors

The project

Sorrells Solicitors came to us as yet another disatisfied customer of Yell/Hibu who needed a simple website that explained their services and brought them new clients.

After discussion with the partners we agreed on an approach of avoiding the usual problems seen on solicitors’ websites: Instead of a website that was distant from the user and full of legal jargon, we aimed for one that was short and to the point, even friendly!

We worked hard together to come up with content that explained benefits rather intimidating the visitor.

As usual the emphasis was on simple, clear navigation, simple language, on a WordPress website in responsive design for mobile devices.

The result was a website that brought in new clients where the previous site had failed.

In early 2016 Sorrells merged with another law firm and the site is currently a holding page.

Red Stone Studio

Red Stone Studio

The project

Red Stone Studio (formerly known as Branding by G) is a graphic design studio run by Gina Cox-Roberts. Having recently rebranded herself, she needed a professional website that reflected that brand and demonstrated the quality of her portfolio.

What we did

From the brief, it was clear that Gina wanted a site that would highlight her portfolio first and foremost.

In terms of design, she wanted a clean and minimal look and feel, so we used a lot of white space and incorporated her red and black branding. Gina created unique graphics to bring the brand through the site, such as the red stones for the social media and newsletter signup buttons.

We also:

  • Added a testimonial page showing Gina’s many delighted clients
  • Embedded a video on the home page
  • Integrated an email newsletter function to automatically e-mail out blog posts to her subscribers

C L Haden writes

The project

C L (or rather, Chelsea Louise) Haden is a content writer, blogger and social media specialist.  This was her first website because even though she’s been in business for five years, she had struggled to find the right web company.

What we did

Chelsea already had a good idea as to what she wanted her site to look like and told us of a website that she particularly liked which we used as a guide.

She had already had her branding done by Red Stone Studio therefore we took styling cues from this.  We used the colours from her logo and added them to the header, footer and the buttons of the site.

She wanted the blog to be the main feature on the site so we kept content on the home page to a minimum and did heavy styling and customization on the blog page.

We also:

  • Integrated an email newsletter function to automatically e-mail out blog posts to her subscribers
  • Integrated a Twitter feed as she’s most active on here
  • Added a blog feed on the footer

The site is no longer live.

Teasdale & Co Accountants

Teasdale & Co Accountants

Teasdale and Co Accountants

The project

Teasdale & Co Chartered Certified Accountants is a Whitchurch accountancy firm serving all sizes of business, from sole traders to corporations in Cheshire, Shropshire and North East Wales.

In 2014 we were asked to build a new version of their website, which was about five years old and designed for small screen sizes, meaning it looked lost on today’s bigger monitors.

Also it was quite cluttered and the small type and unnecessary text made it very difficult to read. This, along with the use of generic images, gave the impression that the company was not approachable.

This was our third accountancy website and once again we were keen to avoid the usual clichés of calculators and pens found on accountancy websites everywhere!

What we did

Teasdale old site home page

We started with the content of the site, completely re-writing all the text and bring it away from the ‘corporate’ look.

We wanted to make sure that when potential customer views the new site, they will find when they need to know more quickly, and be motivated to contact the company.

The new website is built in mobile responsive design, making it easy to use across all devices, and we used modern typography and lots of white space to make it easier to read.

We also took photos of the staff in their office for the personal touch that was needed and used their colours for the design.

In common with all our sites, we added a contact form and ‘click to call’ phone numbers for mobile users.

Teasdale Accountants moved to another provider in 2018 and we have no conection with their current website.

Clear Accounting Solutions

Clear Accounting Solutions

The project

Clear Accounting Solutions provides a range of accounting services to small businesses within the Shropshire area. Owner Linda West has been in the accounting industry for many years but found herself wanting to go it alone and set up her own business.

What we did

It was our job to create a site for Linda that would set her apart from the rest.

The typical design of most accounting websites means that they appear corporate, impersonal and not at all user friendly.

We worked with Branding By G to create a logo concept that avoided the corporate look and was instead colourful and simple. This then provided us with styling cues for the rest of website itself.

Our aim for this mobile responsive WordPress website was to make it easy to use, readable and to communicate a personal feel.

We did this by using a modern typeface, colourful images and a picture of Linda herself, rather than the usual accountancy website staples of calculators and pens!

Other features included integration of a Facebook ‘Like’ box – appropriate as she is an active Facebook user.

We also included a mailing list that offers subscribers a guide to 12 bookkeeping tips, and is sent out automatically in a branded email to anyone who enters their email address into the site.

The Project

AtkinspireAtkinspire is a dental and medical consultancy run by Amanda Atkin. The business previously had a DIY site but it was not helping the business as it should have.

Our brief was to produce a site that would be professional, modern, easy to use and explained her -often complicated – business in a simple and straightforward way.

What Moghill did

We created a modern looking professional website for her with a new logo.

The site is also responsive design, so adapts itself to display across all devices from desktop computers to mobile phones.

A major part of this project was presenting the information on the site in a simple and clear way – a difficult task in Amanda’s field of work, which tends to get bogged down in jargon.

What the client said

Director Amanda Atkin said: “I looked at many web design services when I was deciding who to work with, however what made Mooghill so refreshing and user friendly was the use of basic common sense and the ability to put across the compexities of web design and associated  ‘jargon’ in a way which was easy for me to understand and that is a challenge for anybody!!!

“I was able to tell Pat and Fiona what I wanted to achieve for the Atkinspire Limited website, which services were most important to promote and the look and feel I wanted to achieve. The design was completed in an efficient manner whilst I was at the other end of the country which must have presented some challenges for Moghill but never once did I feel I was causing any problems.

“I am still working with Moghill to deliver the services I want to market to my customers but not only that they are designing my company logo, paperwork and business cards and provide me with a monthly report back on how the website is performing, this allows me to take a much more holistic view of the business and our goals going forward

“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”
